This is a 1:200 scale die-cast model airplane from Hobby Master of the Douglas DC-2 aircraft in the colors of Swissair with registration HB-ITI. When Douglas Aircraft Company unveiled its new twin-engine DC-2 in early 1934, Dutch aircraft manufacturer Anthony Fokker, realizing that the days of the wooden aircraft were over, negotiated with Donald Douglas to build the all-metal aircraft. As a result, Fokker sold 39 Douglas DC-2s in Europe between 1934 and 1937. Twice as large as a standard die cast airliner, this 1/200 scale Hobby Master model of a Fokker-built DC-2-115B - which, built at the Fokker plant near Amsterdam, was the first DC-2 delivered to Swissair in December, 1934 - features simulated cockpit and cabin windows, realistic engine fronts with rotating propellers, separately applied plastic detail parts, optional-position landing gear, an authentic Swiss Air Lines livery, and more. Measures 3" long with a 5" wingspan and includes a display stand.
