This is a large 1:200 scale model airplane from Herpa Wings of the Douglas DC-8-52 aircraft in the colors of United Airlines. When in 1959, the DC-8 went into scheduled service for the first time, United Airlines was among the first and henceforth most important customers. In 1961, United Airlines purchased ten jets of the -50 series among them the original of this new type with the registration N806OU, from the increased-power-rated -52 series.
