This is a GeminiAces 1/72 highly detailed die-cast airplane model of the Supermarine MK.IX Spitfire as deployed by the RAF in the Battle of Britain. Perhaps the most famous fighter plane of World Ware II, the Spitfire literally saved Britain. This beautiful die-cast model brings this magnificant plane to life. All models in the GeminiAces line come standard with the following features: - All die cast construction - Photo-etched, spinning metal propellers - Rolling rubber tires - Movable control surfaces - Optional landing gear up/down configurations - Superior quality graphics - Metal stand included This die-cast model airplane is brand new and in the original box.
Scale 1/72 The beautiful lines of the Spitfire were somehow enhanced with the introduction of the Low Altitude machines. With optimised engines and clipped wings, these Spitfires were designed to conduct low level fighter sweeps over Northern France. The clipped wings yielded an increased roll rate, which was invaluable during low altitude dogfights. MK356 is still flying sorties to this day, but in a much more sedate manner. She flies with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, based at RAF Coningsby, in the UK.
